    wow thank you

  2. Erin Says:

Wow! I didn’t think she was set to give birth until May or June! LOL

Congrats to Brooke & family! =)

  3. landroverdisco Says:

Good for her! I cannot wait to see her. I guess she didn’t want another Taurus baby. I remember her commenting rather negatively on having two Taurus girls. Since she had a C-section w/ Rowan, I cannot imagine her going VBAC w/ her 2nd baby.

  4. fumar Says:

    Congratulations to them!

I think Grier is a cool name, but the baby’s whole name sounds more boyish than girlish to me.

  5. Dina Says:

I don’t like the name but it is their choice. I can’t see either a boy or a girl have that name.

    Congrats to them any way.

  6. Kresta Says:

Congrats to them. I am sure that Grier will be just as gorgeous as Rowan. I hope that Brooke is able to enjoy her newborn without the dreaded PND surfacing.

  7. Shannon Says:

Congrats to them. Grier is a beautiful name. Odd since I usually don’t like these kinds of names that celebs pick for their kids, but I actually love Grier. Good choice Brooke.
And I agree Kresta…lets hope for no PND this time. Poor thing deserves to be able to just enjoy this time she has with her newborn.

  8. Principesa Says:

Bet the Universe is having a chuckle being Brooke’s offspring shares the same birthday as TomKitten.

  9. gracegirl06 Says:

I bet she is just as adorable as Rowan!

  10. michelle anne Says:

WOW how cool…OK anyone else find it ironic that both Brooke and Tom cruise have their babies on the same day…LOL

Welcome to baby Grier ,happy b-day!

  11. amelie Says:

I hope everything goes well for her this time, and she escapes being hit with PND this time. Also, I hope she takes anti-depressants if she needs to.

  12. gargoylegurl Says:

Congrats to the family, I’ve always liked Brooke. Hope she gets through this without any depression, but like she said recently, she’ll be much more aware and prepared if it does hit. Let’s hope Katie doesn’t get PPD, Tom will have her exercising and taking vitamins - what a smuck!

  13. GrietjeV Says:

I wonder if the baby is named for someone or more than one person. I’m always interested in how people come up with names, especially if they have some special meaning or are honoring someone. Anyway, how totally ironic that she and T Cruise have their daughters on the same day. LOL! I hope Brooke, baby Grier and family are doing well.

  14. FC Says:

Not too sure about the full name of baby Grier, but I’m happy to hear they’re all doing fine. :) I still can’t wait to see the newest daughter. ♥

  15. brave Says:

There was a famous actress in the 30s and 40s named Greer Garson - I wonder if Grier is a variation on that name.

    Shields Has Baby Girl

Actress Brooke Shields has given birth to her second child, a daughter named Grier Hammond Henchy. The baby weighed in at seven pounds and measured 20 inches when she was delivered in Los Angeles yesterday. Shields and husband Chris Henchy wed in 2001 and already have a daughter, Rowan, who will be three-years-old next month. The actress suffered from post-natal depression after the birth of her first child. Shields wrote a book about the experience, Down Came The Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, and has spoken out about using antidepressants to help with the problem. Last year, she was famously criticized by Tom Cruise who, as a Scientologist, opposes psychiatry and prescription medication to combat depression. Shields used Ivf treatments to become pregnant with her first child, but was able to conceive her second child without the fertility treatments. The Suddenly Susan star told People magazine, “This pregnancy has been a lot easier. Nothing is going to shock me anymore. I am more prepared.”

“Let’s hope Katie doesn’t get PPD, Tom will have her exercising and taking vitamins - what a smuck!”
Oh yes, God forbid she should be forced to exercise and take vitamins!! *gasp!* lol…
While I know psychiatry/prescription meds are probably the best thing for PPD, a little exercise goes a long way for your health, PPD or not….

  18. StephRainey Says:

I have this great fear that in a few years it will be found out that Baby Henchy & Baby Cruise were switched shortly after birth.
That was the first thing I thought of after I read that they were born the same day at the same hospital.
Maybe it’s just my freaky pregnancy hormones working well overtime.

  19. gargoylegurl Says:

Maria, I agree with you. Vitamins and exercise should probably be part of everyone’s routine. I’m just saying that I think it is very unfair of Tom to suggest that women can combat PND with vitamins and exercise alone. I myself was fortunate enough to not have PND, but my best friend nearly commited suicide. It can be a very serious condition, and I’m sure for some women antidepressents is the answer. Of course exercising and vitamins along with it would be an excellent idea. I would imagine that it’s a case by case type of thing. I don’t profess to be an expert on the subject, unlike Tom, he’s read a few books, so you know, he knows everything! LOL! *rolls eyes* 8)

  20. Autumn Says:

I hope you’re not right StephRainey! Still what a thought! Anyway fortunately today there are ways to find out if the baby is yours, such as a DNA test, however that could be strange after a person has already bonded with their child for a time.

I guess we’ll have to keep a look out to make sure Suri Cruise doesn’t look too much like Brooke Shields…

  21. Roise Says:

How is the name Grier pronounced? Like the actress Greer Garson? To me, it seems more like a surname than a first name, but Hanson, Hudson, Mitchell and other names are too and they seem to work well as first names.

  22. GrietjeV Says:

Roise, “Grier” is pronounced just like “Greer” as in Greer Garson. We have a park near where I live called Grier Park, and it’s pronounced just like Greer. I think it’s the Dutch spelling.

  23. gargoylegurl Says:

Rowan and Grier are not the most feminine of names, but they’re growing on me. 8)

  24. Layla's Mommy Says:

Congrats to her! I really hate the name though. I think both names sound like boys names but I guess Rowen is okay. Grier is just not. Why would you doo that to your girl. Did they want boys and like the names so much that they used them anyway? And why Hammond?! If you are going to use a boyish name at least balance it out with a feminine middle name. Now everytime they introduce their children they will have to explain that they are girls. Heck, my little girl hase a very feminine name and always wares pink and sometimes some people still ask. I fell for poor litle Grier. You can’t evan shorten it to something cute. She will end up being called HAM!
