Tobey Maguire and fiancee Jen Meyer welcome a Spidey baby
Update #2: Ruby Jane Maguire is the full name. She weighed in at 6 lbs, 13 oz!
Update: Us Weekly reports that the baby's name is Ruby. Apparently, the name was chosen because, "They treasure her like a jewel," says a family friend.
Originally posted November 11th: Tobey Maguire and fiancée jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer welcomed their baby daughter Thursday night early Friday, November 10th at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. A name has not been released and we hear that they won't be announcing it for privacy reasons.
They have been a couple since 2003 and became engaged this April. In June, Jen told USA Today, "I'm walking on air. I'm getting married, starting a family and have an amazing company."
Jen is the daughter of NBC Universal president/CEO Ron Meyer.

oh please. why not release the name anyway? people are going to find out pretty soon anyway. to the editors of cbb, are celebrities ever effective in not releasing a child's name for privacy?

I love the name Ruby, and I find the reason for it a little cheesy but at least they didn't name her Diamond.

I heard her name was Scarlett Jane from a source that said their source was credible. *shrugging* I love Ruby though.

Yes, we were also told Scarlet Jane as the name last week but decided not to publish it as we heard Tobey and Jen wanted to keep the name private. Scarlet and Ruby essentially both mean 'red' though, so maybe they were considering both and ultimately chose Ruby. Doesn't sound like we'll be getting a confirmation from Tobey or Jen though, unfortunately.

That really is a georgeous name!! Love it!!
But... A jewelry designer calling her baby Ruby, it's a little too convenient don't you think ;)
Reminds me of actress Shannyn Sossamon (who also happens to be a notorious DJ) calling her son "Audio Science"!!

Tobey Maguire was on Jay Leno tonight (12/15/06) and said her name is Ruby Sweetheart Maguire. The 'Sweetheart' is in honor of Jen Meyer's late grandmother, who always called her sweetheart.
I love the name Ruby! Very cute!
