In the June issue of Glamour, Angelina Jolie jokingly admits to being one of the "worst people to plan a playdate in the history of playdates." During a joint interview conducted with her friend Mariane Pearl -- widow of slain journalist Daniel Pearl and mom to Adam Pearl, who will turn 5-years-old on May 28 -- Angelina recounted their first meeting, a botched playdate for Adam and Angelina's son Maddox Jolie-Pitt, also 5-years-old, that very nearly didn't take place.
(Mariane) hates the phone as much as I do. So it almost didn't happen! But when it finally did, I remember being very nervous, thinking, she's such an intelligent European woman -- what are we going to do together?
The foursome made plans to attend a "serious, European existential play" but Maddox and Adam "got antsy," according to Angelina.
Finally, halfway through, to each other's relief, we were both like, do you want to get out of here? And we ran out and went back to Mariane's place.
It was there, Mariane recalled, that their friendship was solidified.
We cooked pasta; It was actually good. And then we started talking about changing the world.
Now, Angelina says, her brood -- which since that first playdate has expanded to include daughters Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, 2-years-old, and Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, turning 1-year-old May 27, as well as son Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, 3-years-old -- are all included in the fun.
(Mariane's) instincts were right -- We did have so much in common. And all the kids are great friends now. Zahara is madly in love with Adam.

I love that their kids have become friends. I honestly didn't know how good of friends they'd become, but it's nice to hear. I think the part about Zahara being over the moon for Adam is sweet. :)
How precious! Her first crush at 2 years old. And I can hardly believe Shiloh's almost a year old now! These kids are really growing up on me, and it's so much fun to watch.
Ok so we have matched Shiloh with Kingston and now Zahara with Adam Pearl. lol
I admire both these women so much, it is no surprise to me that they are great friends. I can't wait to read the rest of the article. what I have read so far makes it seem like fate that Angelina got this role.
Marianne read an article years ago about Angie and Maddox, and about Angie being a single mom and thought she and Angelina could become friends, so she sends Angie a note asking if she wanted to have a playdate...then sometime later,before Angelina and Brad first met, Marianne meets with Brad and gives him the rights to make her book into a film. she says she did this because he was the only one out of all the studios to have read the book. She also says she felt a connection to him and could see even then how much he wanted to have children and raise them in a world of tolerance.
(so much for the claims that brad didnt really want children)
How amazing that Marianne met and felt a connection with both Brad and Angelina before they ever became a couple! Fate indeed.

I love the fact that Zahara has a crush! It is so cute. Ok, so we have matched Zahara and Shiloh, what about Pax and Maddox? Suggestions?

To answer fee's question about Maddox and Pax, how about Meg Ryan's daughter Daisy True and/or Kristi Yamaguchi's daughters?
