Julie Bowen hosts Jacob's Cure benefit luncheon
On May 31 actress -- and new mom -- Julie Bowen hosted a luncheon at the Hollywood home of United Talent Agency's Lisa Hallerman on behalf of Jacob's Cure. Formed by Jordana Holovach and named in honor of her son, Jacob, the non-profit organization raises awareness of and research funding for the fatal genetic neurological disorder Canavan Disease. Children afflicted with Canavan's have a full life expectancy of just three to ten-years, and are rendered incapable of performing the most simple of functions.
Julie said she first learned of Jacob's Cure shortly after the birth of her first child, Oliver, 8-weeks ago.
I was just out of the hospital and filled with hormones and gratitude for having a healthy child. I'd do anything for another mom.
Approximately 36 celebrities, including Maria Menoulos, Rachel Harris and Elizabeth Banks, turned out for the invitation-only event, and each attendee was gifted with the brand new BabyDish 'Smiley' bag. BabyDish -- who brought you the all-in-one 'BabyBeReady Diaper Bag Survival Kit' -- designed the polka-dotted smiley-face pattern exclusively to benefit Jacob's Cure, donating 40% of all sales to the charity. The bag, which is intended for use as a cosmetics/travel case, can be purchased for $50 directly from BabyDish and -- for a limited-time only -- the pattern is also available on the BabyDish diaper bag for $99.
