Mary Mary’s Tina Campbell welcomes second daughter
One half of Grammy-winning duo Mary Mary, Tina Campbell, 32, and drummer husband Teddy Campbell welcomed their second daughter together last month. Meela Jane was born June 11th, slightly prematurely but is healthy and strong.
Meela Jane Campbell is here and our home is complete. We may try for one more, and pray it’s a boy so Teddy can have his little drummer.
Meela joins big sister Laiah Simone, 3 1/2.

“We may try for one more, and pray it’s a boy so Teddy can have his little drummer.”
uh, no thanks. why can’t their daughter be a drummer? (either of them, or both?)How is that going to make the daughters feel? My mom has made it known, and not so subtly, that she would have liked to have sons, or at least A son. I’m like, “who cares? it ain’t gonna happen, since you are menopausal.” My point…don’t say stuff like that to your living, breathing kids. This is not to say that Tina Campbell will say or has said this. Just sayin.
if my husband wants a son, it’s up to him–as we all know, it’s about the sperm!

That is so cool (the outfit, I mean). My daughter was born in 2003 and I have a picture wearing that exact outfit, pretty much in that same pose. I love it when celebs do “normal”people things.

I didn’t even know she was pregnant. Thanks for covering this story. Great to see a variety of artists on your site.

Why can’t one of their daughters be a drummer? Meg White is a famous example!

I’m sorry, are we in a timewarp back to the 1950s? I can only assume that Tina and Teddy are actually aware of the fact that, shock horror, girls can play the drums too!

Congrats to Tina! I love this group! Their music has been very inspirational to me.

Sheila E. is another fantastic percussionist, and a girl–scratch that–woman! One of their girls could be just like her, if they wanted to. But even if they were to try and ended up a boy, I would laugh if the boy hated the drums and wanted to do something entirely different.
But little Meela is adorable!
