Same thing happened with my mother. Then my brother and I starting popping them out one after another, and she was like ‘Ok, I wanted 1-2 grandchildren, NOT 4-5 in a row, I can't handle it!’

Nicolas and Weston Cage debut comic book series

Nicolas Cage, 43, has teamed up with his oldest son Weston, 16, from his relationship with Christina Fulton, tolaunch their very own line of comic books, titled Voodoo Child (in stores July 11). The series - which follows Gabriel Moore, amurdered child who put a curse on his soul just before his death todefend a post-Katrina New Orleans against gang violence - came intofruition after Virgin Comics approached Nicolas to create his own line.

I said I didn’t have any ideas, but I told them my son might. He hasbeen drawing comics since he was 3. He was a natural to do it.

I’m not a fan of comics to begin with… but fighting post-Katrina gang violence? Is this what comic books have sunk to? They’re that out of ideas?

  2. Barbara Says:

I think this would be an interesting line of comics. Go for it guys!

  3. Doreen Says:

How strange!! What an odd idea for a comic book!! Nicolas’ Son looks like a def wild child!!

  4. Lola Says:

Is he wearing a hood from his sweatshirt or does he have long hair?
    I can’t tell.

  5. jen Says:

His son does not look 16. It may be the picture, but if it didnt state his age I would have thought he was in his early 20’s. He also looks very tall. Even though I dont care for comics, I guess I have to give Nicolas credit for being involved with his son.

  6. Becky's Daughter Says:

I think the comic book idea is a good idea. It may be a little dark though. But hey, Stephen King wouldn’t be a millionaire if people didn’t like a little darkness!

  7. stephanie Says:

That storyline seriously isn’t that unusual, comic book-wise, I’d read it. It’s awesome that they both share the same passion!

  8. Lilybett Says:

The kid is sixteen. What else do you think sixteen year old boys would be interested in reading? The lead character actually looks like Weston, with the long black hair.

I think the comic is a great idea, great concept. Most people forget to read between the lines and all they see is voodoo. It’s anti-gangs and pro-helping people/rebuilding a devastated city. Voodoo is the set-up, like radiactive spider bites, alien planets and sun storms.

What a project for a kid to work on! He’s learning discipline and a work ethic, he’s meeting deadlines, he’s having time with Dad, he’s creating something with his name on it.

  9. kyoto-chan Says:

Randy - Isn’t that what all comic books are about? Fighting the forces of darkness/evil/whatever. Spiderman fights the bad guys (both supernatural and human) in New York City…as does Batman and a slew of other superheroes. It’s not an unusual story so I’m not certain where you’re coming from with that “is this what comic books have come to” comment. It’s what comic books have always been about; it’s a traditional idea.
