Angelina Jolie, 32, was pictured taking son Maddox, 6, off to his French Lycée in New York City. She managed to balance two kids in her arms - Pax, 3 1/2, under one and Zahara, 2 1/2, under the other arm. After taking Maddox to school, she dropped by a book store with Zee and Pax.

I wonder if Pax and Zee are in a preschool program yet? Zee is a bit young still, but Pax is at the preschool age. Perhaps he has a private tutor instead...

Can't these kids walk? I mean, seriously, she's always carrying them around. Surely they travel with a bodyguard or two, so it'd be less likely that someone could just grab one of them. It makes me chuckle every time I see a picture of her or Brad carrying the kids, especially Maddox.
I have an 8 week old baby and he's an armful, I can't even begin to imagine carrying my 3 year old!

She's so strong! You go girl!

If my kids were surrounded by a crowd of yelling paparazzi I'd carry them too.

Posted by: Jade at Sep 20, 2007 3:42:58 PM

I think if there were paparazzi a foot from my face, I would carry my kids too. They can be agressive and scary. I am glad to see her wearing flats and not heels like Katie and Posh, that makes me cringe.

Look at the boys' blazers! So cute and stylish!!

Posted by: Amanda at Sep 20, 2007 3:44:44 PM

The photos of Z smiling and laughing are just to die for! She has the most expressive face. :) And Angie must have some arms of steel to be constantly carrying those two around, making it look like some cakewalk. :)

Pax looks so cute and sophisticated in his little black jacket!! I'm starting to think he's cuter than Shiloh.

Posted by: Nausicaa at Sep 20, 2007 3:59:01 PM

She looks SO frail! I don't even know how she has the strength to carry those beautiful babies...

I hope she is able to gain some weight soon, she is such a wonderful person and keeps putting others' needs before her own.

The children are adorable, as usual!

there have been two time i've carried my 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old at the same time and i can remember them clearly because they were difficult times! :) she's a tough woman!

but why is one kid wearing a wool coat and hat and the other in sandals and an oxford? strange!

Posted by: augustmoon6075 at Sep 20, 2007 4:46:23 PM

Maybe Angie likes carrying the little ones and maybe it's comforting to them because of all the people. She's obviously strong enough to carry two toddlers. The woman is not the least bit "frail." I wish people would stop saying that. Just because you're skinnier than people want you to be, it doesn't mean you are frail. Not everybody wants to look like a quarterback!!

I think Angie is an amazing woman and obviously a good and caring mother.

Jenny, Pax and Zee were in preschool everyday in Prague, at the American Embassy and in Los Angeles. Maybe they couldn't find a pre-school they liked in NY. It's hard to get kids in the really good ones up there.

Posted by: essie at Sep 20, 2007 4:49:09 PM

Those kids need to walk..or at least Pax. Z is still small and skinny..my son got to be an armful after birth lol. She probably carries Pax cuz he is still relatively new to the life in front of paps. If the paps ever hurt one of the kids, can Angie beat them up and claim self defense and not get in trouble or sued?

Posted by: Aileen at Sep 20, 2007 5:15:39 PM

I can't remember seeing either Angie or Brad carrying Mad for a long time now. Maybe I just haven't paid attention though.

Posted by: legemc at Sep 20, 2007 6:31:30 PM

Since none of these kids belong to anyone on this thread and Angie is not asking ANYONE to help her carry her kids, then all the arm chair moms need to zip it. No one knows what these people go thru; go to splash news and look at the video for these pics. Pictures DO NOT tell the whole story; so if she wants to carry her kids, its her right and it no one business.

Posted by: Adore1 at Sep 20, 2007 6:38:05 PM

I'm sure they both run around like crazy people when they're at home but for the same reason some people use strollers/prams in NYC... kids get tired and it's sometimes dangerous for them to be on the ground or unrestrained.

I don't think it's a problem for little kids to be carried anyway. Some cultures carry their kids all the time until they're two or three for bonding reasons etc. Other people do it cause the kids like it (I loved being carried until I was about 5 and I had no problems walking!)

Posted by: Lilybett at Sep 20, 2007 6:44:29 PM

They are adorable as usually.

Who makes the coat Z is wearing?

Posted by: Jenny at Sep 20, 2007 6:46:45 PM

It's becoming so tedious to read the same comments over and over on various celebrity blog sites about Angie "always carrying these "poor" kids". Please, for the love of God, drop it. Think of the paps, think of the fact that we only see a few pics here or there when they are running into a building or out of one. What about the pictures of Angie with the kids in the park? They were running around freely and going up and down the slides, no one seems to comment on that. These kids won't have "bowed" legs, and this is most certainly not why Z may or may not have hip surgery. Leave the poor family alone, they do what they can to smile for the cameras so voyeurs like us can have a peak into the life of a gorgeous celeb family. Kudos to her for having the strength to carry both of them, my back is killing me lifting my son who's under 30lbs. Hehe!

On a lighter note, I am in love with her tan flats. Katie has them in red and i've seen them on various celebs, but can't figure out the company. I've walked through Nordstrom and Bloomies and just can't see anything quite as thin or light looking. If you have any clue, please let me know. :) Thanks.

I am ALWAYS baffled at comments on children being carried, in a stroller, or running along beside their caregivers. Personally , I KNOW I'd carry them in those conditions. But really, why anyone would even have an opinion on it JUST BAFFLES me. Those children look so adorable.

Posted by: Campbell at Sep 20, 2007 7:39:47 PM

pax is so god damn cute.

Posted by: Mon at Sep 20, 2007 7:40:29 PM

You said it Adore1! Do you think it's anyone's business but your own how you care for your own children? How would you react to someone standing over your shoulder and telling you what is best for YOUR child/children? I doubt you'd take kindly to it. Angie knows what is best for HER children. And yes, NYC can be a crazy place to let a toddler roam free. Even holding their hand and walking on the sidewalks, depending on what part of town you're in and how busy it is it's easy for your child to get trampled by the many throngs of locals and tourists alike (I say this from experience with my own 2 1/2 y.o. and walking in downtown Manhattan). Sometimes it's just easier and safer to carry them.

Those kids are so beautiful.I would carry them.Especially when you have three kids. The paps are crazy and would jump on them and scare them even more.Carrying them is faster, especially when you're surrounded by cameras. We don't know what it is like.

I don't know about her, but as the momma to 3 small children, ages 1,3 and 5, I know that I just feel that they are a little bit safer in my arms then walking and holding their hands in certain settings. I can only imagine that the feeling would be magnified by 1,000 if I was always swarmed by paparazzi, fans, etc. I don't let my 3 year old walk around Disneyland at all because of the crowds so he rides in the stroller with my 1 year old son. He stands in line and stuff with us but have you seen the crowds at Disneyland? He could get run over by a stroller or whisked away in a crowd in a heartbeat, even holding onto my hand. I imagine that Angelina feels like she is in a similiar crowd on a daily basis and probably opts for the safest mode of transportation for the kiddos. When we have seen pics of the kids in more private settings such as a park, etc. they obviously have more free reign to walk around and not be carried. Even with a bodyguard, keeping an eye on numerous children is sometimes difficult and keeping 2 out of 3/4 of them in your arms while out and about seems like a logical move!

AWWWWWWW! The Jolie-Pitt kids are adorable as usual! I agree 100 percent with Adore1 and Christina about the carrying the kids the issue. I also want to say that I am EXTREMELY grateful that no one has made any of the usual "Where's Shiloh?" comments.

Man that woman must have arms of steel!

Posted by: emily at Sep 21, 2007 1:17:35 AM

Adore1, can't say it better myself. I can't believe people are actually criticising these mothers for carrying their kids. God forbid if they were photographed getting fed or gasp, hugged. Oh, the horror.

Posted by: stephanie at Sep 21, 2007 8:11:18 AM

Angie is obviously not frail. I think she got incredibly strong from her role as Lara Croft. I remember her saying she had to work out extensively and take kick-boxing and gymnastics lessons. That must be what toughened her up so much. I wish I was that strong; if I was, certainly I'd carry two toddlers at once!

Posted by: Nausicaa at Sep 21, 2007 9:34:01 AM

Arms of steel. My son is 5 months and 20lbs and he gets heavy after a while. Two older kids, she is supermom!

Posted by: dina at Sep 21, 2007 9:39:30 AM

The Lycee is right in front of my building and I have been woken up by the paps screaming at them to get shots. I saw them take Maddox into school the other day as a result. Those photographers are nasty, they are pratically leaning against their car, it looks traumatizing. I am sure she carries those kids as a safety precaution and they probably run all over the place in the privacy of their own home. There really should be laws, as much as it is fun to see some of these pics these are still human beings who deserve personal space and privacy for their kids.

"essie",

So I'm guessing you must have thought that Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff didn't want to "look like a quarterback"....

I understand not wanting to be "big", but if you've seen the most recent pictures of her exposed bones you might reconsider, only because she has never really looked like that before. She just doesn't seem well, perhaps the stress of losing her mother is still weighing heavily on her mind.

I adore Angelina and wish her and her family all the best!

Posted by: Tracy at Sep 21, 2007 12:19:46 PM

Do go and check out the other pictures of the clan. There are several of Pax and Maddox walking. Zahara continues to be carried, but whatever. I think it is just easier for them to be carried, especially if they want to make a speedy getaway from the "craparazzi."

Posted by: Dawna at Sep 21, 2007 5:09:44 PM

Just thought I would add that I was out running errands and the paps were all around the block waiting for Angie & co like a bunch of stalkers. It has become an Upper East Side frenzy. They are smug & obnoxious and they have no boundaries with these kids so of course she carries them. On another note I used to teach at the Lycee and considering the level of privacy that is given to the pupils I am sure someone in the school tipped the paps off for money. Some of the other parents seem very annoyed with the whole thing.

Posted by: Nancy at Sep 21, 2007 6:37:08 PM

The sweetest picture of this set IMO is posted on x17. Angelina is carrying Pax and Zahara and is using the hand supporting Pax to hold Maddox's hand as well.

Posted by: Bella at Sep 22, 2007 7:33:02 AM

Bella , I had to come back and post on that same pic... I was thinking that if there were a way that I could hoist the little fellow (Maddox) on me some how I swear I would! I'd carry the three of them.!!! Guess that's the mommy in me. I saw that little "hand hold", and it is very telling.

Posted by: Campbell at Sep 22, 2007 10:22:33 PM

meant to add ~~~ Mon, you crack me up... such straight forwardness. love it.
