Joey_mcintyre180CBB exclusive update: Joey's former management says the name is actually Griffin Thomas.

Update 10 pm: We have heard from a source, which we have not used before and are unsure of how trustworthy they may be, that Easton Joseph may be the baby's name.

Originally posted 12 pm: Former New Kid on the Block Joey McIntyre, 34, and his wife Barrett, 29, welcomed their first child -- a son -- on Tuesday, November 20th in Los Angeles.  He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces.  The couple have yet to decide on a name. The Dancing with the Stars alum's rep released the following statement,

The family is happy and healthy. Everyone's doing well and they're excited he made it here in time for Thanksgiving.

Joey is extremely proud of Barrett and stated,

My wife is a rock star!

The couple announced their pregnancy in May of this year. Barrett was due on Wednesday and delivered a day before.

Has anyone ever heard of the name Easton? That's a new one for me. I do like when couples give the Mom or Dad's name as the middle name though. Congrats to Joey and Barrett!

I love the name Easton, i always think of the sporting good company though. Condgrads to Joey, i was a huge NKOTB fan, it is crazy to think Joey is all grown up with a kid!

Kimber to answer your question I think this is the first celeb kid I have heard named Easton, but I have heard the name a few times before. There was a story the recently though about an actress that is planing on naming her daughter to be Easton. I can see the name becoming popular in the next couple years.

Ooohhh! I absolutely LOVE the name Easton!! I can't use it though because it sounds so bad with my last name wich also starts with an E.
Anyways, Congratulations to the new parents!!!

Isn't that actress who used to be on L & O going to name her kid Easton as well? When has it become such a popular name?

I was wondering the same thing Kimber. When a celebrity recently said she was going to name her daughter Easton a lot of people thought it was a boys name but I have never heard it before, not as a boy or a a girl name.

Congrats to Joey & his wife on their new arrival.

I have not heard of the name Easton before but I really like it. His name has a nice ring to it.

Joey's is a name that I have not heard for several years now. I will always remember the huge crush I had on him (and all of his posters throughout my room) when the NKOTB were popular.

Easton is a town here in Massachusetts so maybe it has some personal significance as I know Joey hails from the MA area...Just a thought**

I've heard it a few times, but I don't think it's very common. I like it because it kind of sounds similar to Austin which I used to like a long time ago but it became way too popular. I have a friend that named her son Eston which I really like as well.

I've heard of Easton. It's becoming popular. I don't like it. It sounds like someone with a lisp trying to pronounce Ethan.

The child's name is Griffin Thomas - confirmed by the horses mouth himself.

Cute name. I like Griffin.

As far as Easton, I found it odd when it was posted not too long ago that someone else was going to use the name. I used to work with a lady who gave her daughter the middle name of Easton. She chose it because it was her maiden name. When I heard someone else was using it, I wondered if it was in honor of family.

Love the name!!!!

Oh my god, I remember having a crush on him when he was in NKOTB. I feel old, but it's so cool to see!

Posted by: Jes at Nov 23, 2007 9:12:48 PM

Thomas is Joey's dad's name!

As a teacher, I see lots of name "trends." This year's Kindergarten class at my school has 5 - yes, in one class - Easton's - all girls. Last year's class had 3 boys with the same name. Seems every year there is an "unusual name" trend - 2nd grade is full of Braden/Brayden/Braydin - 3rd has all the Ava/Ella's - and 4th is full of (6 and 7 respectively) Austin's and Madisons. (I like names :)
