Update:  Marc Malkin at E! appears to back the report by Newsday, writing in his Planet Gossip column today that contrary to her reps' denial Jennifer did indeed check in to the hospital last night.

Update: Long Island's Newsday reports that,

Jennifer Lopez has checked into North Shore University Medical Center. Hospital officials denied that the Bronx-born superstar who is expecting twins was at the medical center. Two hospital sources, however, said she was "in the house" and had checked in under a false name.

Star also reports that Jennifer's mom was overheard in a jewelry store, ordering two gold bracelets engraved with Max and Emme.

Update: Untrue! Jennifer's rep tells Us Weekly,

It's not true that J. Lo is in the hospital having a baby or babies. We have been getting the same phone calls since last week.

Everybody figures it is happening around now so they have started throwing out the story hoping they will be right and be the one to break the news, but it isn't yet.

Originally posted 2:50 pm: Perez Hilton is reporting that singer Jennifer Lopez may deliver her and husband Marc Anthony's baby (or twins) today in Long Island, NY. The 38-year-old has been rumored to be giving birth in January, February or March, so only time will tell if this is true. An earlier due date of the 26th, as reported by Mark Malkin, turned out to be false.

I hope so, can't wait to see what she has, one or two babies, boy or girl. And to hear the names. I always thought she was due Feb, so if it's twins it's very possible she is giving birth today cause twins are usually early

Posted by: gianna at Jan 28, 2008 2:54:12 PM

What!! omg thats sooner than we expected! Eek, I hope so!

Posted by: Heather at Jan 28, 2008 2:54:58 PM

Well whatever she's having, good luck and congrats. :)

As a Mom of twins, I hope it's not too early(I gave birth at 38 weeks). She didn't look overly huge in the last pic so I'm thinking she has a little bit of time to go. It is possible she could be there to do on bedrest which is quite common with twins. I wish them the best!

Posted by: jen at Jan 28, 2008 3:33:16 PM

It does seem to be kind of early if her original due date is March. Maybe she's further along than we know...

Doesn't seem like any complications and too deliver this early doesn't seem healthy for the babies. But I"m no OB/GYN so I dunno.

I hope J. Lo has a girl Amen :)

Posted by: Nad at Jan 28, 2008 3:57:28 PM

If true this is exciting. It does seem kind of early, but considering her shower was a little over a week ago and is traditionally done in the last 6-8 weeks (I think) she may be further along I thought

Posted by: Bella at Jan 28, 2008 4:06:36 PM

My guess is that if she said her due date was March, it was really February, and to be having the babies at the end of January would sound right if its twins. Cannot wait to see if its true.

Posted by: Alexa at Jan 28, 2008 4:28:41 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if a false due date had been fed to the press. If I were a celeb I'd do that so I wouldn't have the press hounding the hospital waiting for me to deliver. She's also been seen wearing coats a lot, I'm sure to hide the bump to avoid speculation. Here's to a complication-free labor. Can't wait to hear the name(s)!

Posted by: MB at Jan 28, 2008 5:01:36 PM

I wonder where she will deliver? she lives right near us and there are no great hospitals around here. Maybe Long Island Jewish, I had my preemie 45 minutes from where I live because they had a wonderful NICU hmmmm. I would think she would be more inclined to deliver in Manhatten.

Posted by: Heather at Jan 28, 2008 5:11:42 PM

well if its twins that is certainly not abnormal. we see this in l & d all the time

Posted by: momof2 at Jan 28, 2008 5:17:39 PM

Ive just read that shes expecting twins, singer and friend of the couple alejandro sanz said it accidently

Posted by: maggie at Jan 28, 2008 7:05:11 PM

Didn't this same rep spend months denying Jlo was even pregnany when it was obvious to the world that she was?

Posted by: Lilybett at Jan 28, 2008 7:29:50 PM

And here the rumors flying all over again..lol. I still think the due date is March, and I'm pretty sure it's twins- a little boy and a little girl. I also wonder where she'll have her baby (babies) in Long Island. I'm gonna bet New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhatten cuz that's where many celebs who give birth in New York have their kids..and I live in the Long Island area too, so maybe I can catch a glimpse when he/she/they arrive(s)!

MB- If J-Lo is indeed having twins, I doubt she'll go into labor at all. She'll probably end up with a C-section (most twins are born that way).

Anyway, I know that J-Lo's rep denied her pregnancy at first...But this time I believe her (or him). This certainly wouldn't be the first time that tabloids and Internet sites have incorrectly reported that a celeb is giving birth. Not only that, but this rumor orginated from Perez Hilton....Who is usually less than reliable.

Anyway, keep in mind that at first, it was reported that Christina had her baby on January 11, the same day that Harlow Madden was born. Her rep then denied the reports....and as Christina didn't have Max until the following night (Saturday the 12th), the rep was obviously telling the truth.

Therefore, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the rumor about J-Lo giving birth today is indeed false.

Whether or not she is giving birth, I wish her and Marc the best of luck. Many blessings always!

Posted by: VRey at Jan 29, 2008 10:38:49 AM

Would they even tell us if it happens? With these two I'm thinking we won't find out anything.

Posted by: Ivey at Jan 29, 2008 11:42:22 AM

i just like to say congrats to jennifer lopez.no way shes due in march.look at her shes due any day.

Posted by: HARMONY at Jan 29, 2008 12:34:21 PM

I was watching a spanish sort-off gossip show this morning and they had video of her and marc at a concert last night in NYC. She looked ready to pop. They had also spoken to her rep who said she still had at least 3 weeks to go.

Posted by: Gaby at Jan 29, 2008 6:43:37 PM

Star magazine claims that her mom picked up gold name braceletes engraved with "Max" and "Emme".

Posted by: Nineveh at Jan 29, 2008 6:47:41 PM

I read that on Perez too. i like the names BUT ... lots of "Max's" right now and not sure about Emme Anthony?

Posted by: brannon at Jan 29, 2008 7:20:24 PM

If this is really true - how terrible of hospital sources to reveal that information. Isn't that illegal? What a shame she has to check in with a false name. Giving birth can be nerve-racking as it is.

Posted by: Monica at Jan 29, 2008 8:25:13 PM

for some reason jlo's pregnancy is flying by! why is this?

Posted by: Colby at Jan 29, 2008 8:54:12 PM

"Max and Emme?" J-Lo's naming her twins after the Dragon Tales children? LOL.

Posted by: Mason Jeffries at Jan 29, 2008 10:15:07 PM

Somehow I doubt that she'd turn to Dragon Tales for inspiration in naming her child(ren).

Posted by: H at Jan 29, 2008 10:21:38 PM

Monica- ITA! That said, since she was apparently seen at a concert last night, I highly doubt that this is true. I wouldn't, however, be surprised if she does use a false name when she checks in. I remember reading in an interview that Angelina Jolie said that her mother was in the hospital (for her cancer) at the same time she (Ange) was giving birth...and they were both under the same assumed name. Therefore, stars DO sometimes check in to hospitals under assumed names.

I must say, it makes upset that News Day said: "....who is expecting twins". I mean, the fact is, we don't know for sure whether or not she's expecting twins! They have not confirmed, and neither have their reps. Unlike with the pregnancy itself, they and their reps haven't even issued denials on the subject. To my knowledge, they haven't spoken about it at all. I wish the media would stop assuming that she is having twins! I am actually hoping that she will have just one baby, and prove the media wrong!

All of that said, I personally think we WILL hear something when the babies are born. After all, J-Lo DID recently talk to some magazine about her pregnancy. Therefore, I'm guessing she may also talk at least a tiny bit about her baby (or babies) after s/he (or they) is (or are) born.

Posted by: CelebBabyLover at Jan 29, 2008 10:56:44 PM

Thank you Colby! I thought I was the only one. If she doesn't deliver now. Im guessing mid feb.

Posted by: Callen at Jan 29, 2008 11:14:35 PM

Max and Emme?!?! LOL, Dragon Tales. I doubt this rumor. :)

Posted by: Christine at Jan 30, 2008 1:21:40 AM

I'm starting to believe this is just rumor, otherwise somehow, someone would have found out if she had the baby (or babies) by now. So I'd have to say this is just simply a rumor.

Posted by: Jennifer at Jan 30, 2008 10:21:41 AM

A Csection isnt a given for twins. I too thought that when we dicovered I was pg with twins. But after talking with other twin moms and our doctors, a very small portion had Csections. My water broke at 36 weeks and after 2 hrs of Labor I delivered my boys vaginally with no problems. They weighed 6lbs 3 ozs and 5lbs 11 ozs. Two days later we were home.

Posted by: Lyssa at Jan 30, 2008 1:26:55 PM

That doesn't mean she's NOT in the hospital; she's likely even had the baby/babies by now but won't issue a statement until they're back home.Celebs seem to have a habit of denying, denying, denying(likely to avoid the media frenzy!) Rememeber how she denied she was even prego....until she was popping so much it was impossible to deny it any longer!

Posted by: Pogue Mahone at Jan 30, 2008 1:28:25 PM

Christine, I thought those names sounded familiar! :)

Posted by: finnaryn at Jan 30, 2008 1:40:03 PM

max and emme arent they the names of the dragontales kids? how funny!
good luck jen! as a mom of twins, you need all you can get!!

Posted by: annie at Jan 30, 2008 1:57:26 PM

She's indeed having twins - she goes to my doctor's practice. Don't know if it's a boy and girl or not though. Can't wait to see when, I'm sure soon!

Posted by: Lucy at Jan 30, 2008 2:16:19 PM

She could always be checking into the hospital to undergo a non stress test

Posted by: sarah williams at Jan 30, 2008 3:54:38 PM

It's possible that she's in the hospital on bedrest, making both the denial AND the rumor of a hospital check-in correct!

Posted by: wavybrains at Jan 30, 2008 4:21:59 PM

I am hearing they had 2 girls this afternoon, 2 healthy girls. I am in the same town as the hospitol , why aren't any of the reporters picking this info up. The hosp. is a mob scene right now!
YAY! congrats!

Posted by: Heath at Jan 30, 2008 6:09:39 PM

love max, although a bit behind Ms. Aguilera, and maybe they got it wrong and its Esme? Love that name!!
Hope, hope hope, they arent the dragontales twins!
I think that WOULD be worse then their names rhyming.
I wish them luck with their babes. Mine are doing somersaults right now. They grow up fast in 14 months!

Posted by: annie at Jan 30, 2008 7:16:20 PM

Lucy- Did you find out she's having twins by overhearing her having a conversation with someone at your doctor's office, or did someone at your doctor's office leak the information to you? If it's the latter, than I am very, very dissapointed in the doctor's office.

J-Lo may be a celeb, but they still need to keep her information confidential! Anyway, I agree with Jennifer. If she had given birth by now, I'm sure we'd have heard something. Not neccesarily a statement from her or her rep, but at least some sort of rumor other than simply "she checked into the hospital".

Anyway, I know this is probably not very likely, but what if the twins rumor is wrong....and she's having triplets?! :)

Posted by: CelebBabyLover at Jan 30, 2008 10:12:53 PM

I forgot to mention that I am also a bit doubtful about whether the rumor about the names J-Lo and Mark have chosen are true. I'd be kind of surprised if J-Lo chose to give her son the same name as Christina's baby boy. Then again, maybe she doesn't keep up with Christina (and therefore may not know that Christina named her son Max).

Posted by: at Jan 30, 2008 10:15:29 PM

I think it's less likely she knows about the dragon tales kids - I am an elementary teacher and a mother and I hadn't heard of that - eeks! Where have I been?
