Scott Baio reveals baby's name; introducing Bailey DeLuca Baio

Tags: Babies , Dads , Exclusive , Names , News , Quotes , Video

CBB Exclusive update: On the Adam Carolla show this morning, Scott announced that his daughter's name is Bailey. We just heard from Renee, who shares photos and tells us,

We named our little angel Bailey DeLuca Baio. DeLuca is Scott's mother Rose's Italian maiden name. We were asked by VH1 to try our best to keep it quiet about her name until the show airs.

A lot of rag-mags have been just silly about it. [I want to correct a few things.] Yes, I was pregnant with twins, but we sadly lost one at 11 weeks -- NOT at 5 ½ months like the National Enquirer reported. They also said that I'm 39 years old -- not true, I am 35.

Anyway, I hope that people will watch Scott's show. Scott and I taped a special with ET last night that will be airing throughout the season...I really put myself out there as a pregnant woman, and never let anyone know the major problems we were having with the health of the babies.

My older daughter Kalyn [who is 18 and pictured below] has been my rock in this as well, she was with us every step with the labor and delivery of her little sister....

Scott and I are truly blessed,

Renee Baio

Originally posted 12:40 pm: Talk about suspense!  Scott Baio, in a Monday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, reiterated earlier statements made by wife Renee Sloan Baio exclusively to CBB that the couple is contractually bound from revealing the name of their 9-week-old daughter.  Fortunately, the wait is nearly over -- the reality show Scott Baio is 46 ... and Pregnant (revised from last season's working title of Scott Baio is 45 ... and Single) will debut Jan. 13, at which time the name will finally be announced.

In the meantime, fans can pass the time by coming up with their own predictions.  According to Scott, the name begins with the letter B!

I think its Bianca.

I think it's Bailey or Bonnie, but I feel Bailey that was the rumor months ago and now that he is saying it starts with a B, my guess is rumor was right and it's Bailey.

The baby's name is Bailey.

Bailey Baio? I hope not. I guess Bridget.

Posted by: Betsy at Jan 9, 2008 1:03:20 PM

I'm going with Bailey as well.

Scott Baio was on the Adam Carolla show this morning and he announced the baby's name was Bailey.

Posted by: CJ at Jan 9, 2008 1:15:31 PM

My initial thought was Brooke. I guess that I will be tuning in :)

Posted by: kelly at Jan 9, 2008 1:16:09 PM

I'm not really a fan of names that start with the same letter as the last name. Sounds so cartooney. :/

Oh, and what are those weird marks at the bottom of each post? Those black little things that look like Chinese characters.

Sarah's note: Not sure what you mean. I'm not seeing anything?

Posted by: Nineveh at Jan 9, 2008 1:22:39 PM

Bailey I knew it, another rumor that proves to be true lol. The name isn't bad IMO. Not my choice, but I have heard way worse names, it's kinda cute to me.

Posted by: gabriella at Jan 9, 2008 1:40:43 PM

Didn't her sister post on here months ago that the baby's name would be Bailey? (When it was thought to be Bonnie.) Seems kind of weird to me that they stretched it out like this ... like a publicity stunt or something?

Sarah's note: Yes she did, and then Renee asked us to remove it as she didn't give her sister permission to share. From what I've understood talking to Renee, they've wanted to be able to share, but vH1 asked them to keep it quiet as long as possible.

Posted by: brannon at Jan 9, 2008 1:55:41 PM

lol, nevermind. it's gone now. guess it was just my browser.

Posted by: Nineveh at Jan 9, 2008 2:22:52 PM

Bailey's the name my husband and I are considering if we have another daughter next time, so I'm partial to it.

However, Bailey Baio is just a little too sing-songy for my taste.

Posted by: RENEE at Jan 9, 2008 2:23:19 PM

I actually don't mind the name Bailey, although I would NEVER put it with Baio...I can hear the mean kids at school now, here comes Bay Bay.

Posted by: Maria at Jan 9, 2008 2:24:52 PM

She had twins and lost one at 11 weeks? That's awful! How would we not know about that sooner?

I like Bailey but not with Baio. Hey, if they like it, they like it! Congratulaions to them. Bailey is beautiful.

Posted by: Meg at Jan 9, 2008 2:44:30 PM

Renee is very pretty and looks young. I can't believe she has an 18-year-old!

Posted by: kaitlyn at Jan 9, 2008 2:54:04 PM

The girl in the second pic with the baby is 18 years old? She looks to be about 10 or 11 in that pic. Maybe it's just the angle. Bailey is a beautiful name.

Sarah's note: Yeah, I think it's the angle. Here's another photo Renee sent us where you can see her a bit better.

Posted by: Carol at Jan 9, 2008 3:20:14 PM

Thanks for the Vh1 info - makes more sense now :)

Posted by: brannon at Jan 9, 2008 3:25:36 PM

Kalyn does look almost child-like in the photo of her and Bailey, which I think is adorable, but she looked her age on the show!

But that photo is just cute, and I love how Bailey is so comfortable and all curled up against her sister. Sweet!

Posted by: FC at Jan 9, 2008 3:26:43 PM

How is Baio pronounced? Bay-o? If so, it kind of clashes with Bailey... Not a name I'd pick for a girl, but then after two boys I wanted something definitely feminine rather than a unisex name!

Stella McCartney has a little girl called Bailey too but here in the UK I think it's generally a boy's name.

What a shame about the lost twin, I wish the whole family well and hope they can relax a bit now that the name is 'out'!

Sarah's note: Yes, Bay-o. In the US Bailey definitely seems to be pretty unisex.

Posted by: malibustacey at Jan 9, 2008 3:30:13 PM

Bailey looks so sweet!

Also, my daughter's name is also Kalyn like Renee's older daughter. She is the only other "Kalyn" that I have seen.

Posted by: brandy at Jan 9, 2008 3:40:52 PM

I think Bailey DeLuca Baio is a perfect name. Bailey is adorable! Boy does Kalyn look like her mom. She looks just like her only with darker hair.

Posted by: E at Jan 9, 2008 4:33:26 PM

That's sad that she lost a twin, but at least Bailey is healthy. Twins actually run in Scott's family his brother and sister named steven and stephanie are twins, they're older than Scott. Bailey is a beautiful baby, and very nice of Renee to share her story with the outside world. Can't wait to see the show, and I like that the middle name is after scott's mom's maiden name. It's a cute name overall, very italian.

Posted by: gabriella at Jan 9, 2008 4:36:22 PM

I'm happy for them, I do like the name Bailey a lot...
but in this case it reminds me of that rap song...Ay Bay Bay, only now it would be Ay Bai Bai:-)

I was also thinking that the girl holding Bailey in the second picture looks a lot younger than 18. I saw the VH1 episode with Renee's daughter, so it could be her, but the picture makes her look so much younger for some reason.

Posted by: Lys at Jan 9, 2008 5:40:53 PM

She is a beautiful baby. The name Bailey Baio reminds me of Dex Dexter from Dynasty back in the day.

Posted by: Beverley at Jan 9, 2008 5:48:40 PM

I think her other daughter pictured must be 8...not 18...if Renee's 35 she would have been 17 when she had her, which is very possible...but that girl looks soooo much younger than 18? Do you guys know for sure?

Sarah's note: Kalyn is most definitely 18. Renee did have her as a teenager. If you click the link I provided in the comments upthread, you'll see she does look her age in the other pic Renee sent (or if you've seen Kalyn on the show). It's just the angle in this photo -- Kalyn took it from over her head.

Bailey is a very cute name. The name, however, doesn't flow well with Baio. The first thing I thought of was the song "Ay Bay Bay" by Hurricane Chris! :)

Posted by: Kimora and Kariah's Mommy at Jan 9, 2008 7:56:52 PM

Just an FYI, I was on iTunes yesterday, and they have "Scott Baio is 46...and pregnant" on there for free. I watched most of the episode, but not all of it, so I'm not sure if they said the name on there, but it is for free, if you want to download it.

Posted by: Meredith at Jan 9, 2008 9:26:12 PM

Bailey Baio? Did they say that out loud before they decided on it?!

Posted by: jjj at Jan 10, 2008 8:00:06 AM

If little Bailey grows up to look anything like her mother, then we're probably going to see "Scott Baio is 62... and busy (fighting off hords of suitors that all want to go out with his beautiful teenaged daughter).

Posted by: Anna at Jan 10, 2008 6:25:04 PM

I saw them on ET tonight, bailey is so small and cute. She has really light hair. Kalyn looked so happy with her baby sister, very sweet.

Posted by: gabriella at Jan 10, 2008 11:08:51 PM

Gabriella-twins running in families have nothing to do with Scott's side. The only kind of twins that are actually genetic are fraternal twins and it all has to do with the mother releasing more than one egg. That has nothing to do with the father.

good for you renee!! i love the show, and im really proud of scott, bailey is beautiful, and i wish you guys the best of luck

hey!i heard on scott's show that the baby's name was bailey, thats my name too!

Posted by: Bailey at Apr 20, 2008 9:46:54 AM

I grew up a few blocks from Scott... I am so happy that he came to his senses and watching his show I truly felt this is what he needed... A good woman, a good family and a baby to get out of that life he was leading.
I would of told him a few words if I ran into him when he visited Brooklyn...
Just want to wish him the best of luck with everything...

Posted by: chris at Jun 24, 2008 1:36:28 AM

I think Brooklyn or Bethany whould have been nice names
