Introducing Domino Carmen Flint Wood

Tags: Babies , Kids , Newborns , News , Quotes

Indiahicks8_cbb Interior designer India Hicks, 40, and her partner David Flint Wood welcomed their fourth child, daughter Domino Carmen Flint Wood, on December 17th. India and David, along with sons Felix, 10, Amory, 8, and Conrad, 4, introduce Domino, now 10 weeks, in the latest issue of Hello! magazine.

Click below for the photos and interview highlights, including why they induced early, how they chose her name, and what Domino's three brothers think of her.

On the birth:

Due on Christmas Eve, India and David instead opted for an early inducement, so that their three boys wouldn't have to miss their mom celebrating with them on Christmas morning. After a 'reasonable' five hour labor, Domino was born.

[Although I'd had three previous children,] nothing will prepare you and each time is unique in its own right. By the time you've done three, at number four you're going: 'Right okay.' But then nothing prepares you. Each one is a unique experience and, at the cost of sounding cliched, it is extraordinary, birth, producing a life. So even though you know what to expect, the miracle of life is so overwhelming.

Holding her for the first time as lovely. It was still like holding an alien. A slippery, slimy, blue thing!

On (finally) having a girl:

I still look at her now and think, 'What's that boy doing in a dress?' The main difference is other people's interests in the baby. By the time you get to the third, people are going, 'What? Another boy?' With a girl they say, 'Send a picture.'  That's the first thing anyone will ask for.

As for the boys, their new sister calmed their rambunctiousness.

They were delighted and very gentle and quiet with her, which doesn't happen very often.

On choosing Domino's name:

She is named after the Bond Girl in Thunderball -- the 1965 James Bond movie set in the Bahamas, where the family resides.

When we first came up with it, I thought: 'It's quite grown up.' But now she couldn't be anyone else.

I gotta say that I love the fact that all three boys are wearing PINK shirts, apparently in solidarity for their new baby sister!

I hope Domino is pronounced "Dah-mee-no" and not like the pizza chain!
Thats a very beautiful family! Congrats to them on their baby girl.

Such a beautiful family! It sounds like the boys really adore their baby sister, and she certainly is a cutie! :-)

What a cool name to choose! I think it is pronounced Do-me-no, similar to Dominique.

I have always admired India! What a beautiful family :)

Beautiful baby and lovely looking family. India Hicks was just a small girl when she was in Diana's wedding - now she's 40. Time really does fly, doesn't it?

Why is her last name Flint rather than Wood or Hicks?

Sarah's note: I think that may have been a mistake (not sure, CBB reader Carlie was lovely enough to type it up for us and make the scans, so I haven't seen the actual article). The other kids are Flint Wood, so I'll change the title.

I love these kids! Back when I first saw them I couldn't get over how adorable they were and Conrad was so little! haha for some reason it reminds me of the beckhams in the future. I think Brooklyn will be around 10 and Cruz will be around 4 for their next and it could be a girl ;)

I have to say, I love the random family cat in one shot, and Conrad's face in the family picture!

India is a natural beauty. The name Domino is odd to me, but I do like where they got the idea from. Very interesting.

The inducing thing caught my eye too. Usually I am very crunchy and would probably be against that, but I can TOTALLY see myself asking to be induced if I was due Christmas Eve and had kids so old that it would matter to them. It was sweet of her to make them her priority.

Beautiful family. I'm happy they have a little girl now after three boys. Two wonderful parents, three handsome little boys, and one beautiful little girl.

Yeah her surname must be wood but in the article it just said Domino Carmen Flint.

But as the other three children are Wood I'm pretty sure Domino is as well.

This is a beautiful family. I love the expression on Conrads face in the family picture.

I have two boys and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in March. While I was waiting to be induced, I picked up a magazine that featured India and her stunning family. I thought, if I'm lucky enough to have a girl (I didn't know the sex) I would love to name her India. Everyone loves her name.

India is such an inspiration ... proof that as a woman you can have it all! She is gorgeous, successful and a Mum too!
