Marlee Matlin says her kids want her to be the 'coolest mom ever'

Tags: Ha ha , News , Quotes , Reality TV

Marlee_matlin_180x240Actress Marlee Matlin, 42, has just been announced as a contestant for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars and her kids couldn't be more excited. Marlee says her daughter Sarah Rose, 12, 'screamed when she found out' that her mom was going to be competing on the reality television series.

Marlee and her husband, law enforcement officer Kevin Grandalski, are also parents to Brandon Joseph, 7, Tyler Daniel, 5, and Isabelle Jane, 4. Marlee says she has been a fan of DWtS for quite awhile:

I love the spectacle! I love the clothes!

But when it came to actually competing in the show, Marlee says her children are the ones that pushed her.

I'm really doing it for my kids because they want me to be the coolest mom ever. I don't know if I'm crazy or what, but I'm going to give it my best shot!

The sixth season of Dancing With the Stars begins March 17th on ABC.

I am really looking forward to seeing how Marlee does on DWTS. She is a brave woman to attempt something so challenging for a hearing person, let alone a deaf person. I think that she will have to feel the beat inside her body in order to keep time. I wish her the best of luck and I will be cheering for her.

Does anyone know if any of her children are deaf also? Just wondering if it could be passed on.

beverley, if i remember right marlee went deaf because of a virus she contracted when she was a child so it wouldnt have been passed on to her kids.
