Nicky Slater and wife welcome a son

Tags: Births , Dads , Homebirths , News , Quotes

Dancing On Ice judge Nicky Slater and his wife Christianne are the proud parents of a new baby boy, after welcoming a son yesterday.  The former British ice dancer barely made it home in time for the birth, having gotten the call that Christianne was in labor during rehearsals for the UK reality show.  Then, almost as soon as the baby was born, Nicky got the all-clear from Christianne to return to the set to tape Sunday night's episode.  An unnamed source tells The Sun,

Christianne told him to go. The birth went very well and she told Nicky to do the show.

One thing the couple apparently is not in agreement on is a name!  Said Nicky during the show,

We are still in negotiations on a name. I am nominating Tiger but she has not agreed.

The baby is the first for the couple, who married in 2006.

Oh, I hope she doesn't regret sending him off down the road. When I was almost due with our first, my husband's friends, who were in a band, were having a show on March 3. I wasn't due until the 5th, but the week before we went out and everyone was joking that I was going to deliver on the day of the show. I promised hubby that as long as I wasn't in the delivery room, he could still go to the show. Well, wouldn't you know it! I delivered on the afternoon of the 3rd. My husband asked before he called his friends if I was okay with him going out that night. I was still a bit loopy from the epidural and absolutely exhausted, so I said sure. I was stuck with about 15 people in my room while I was trying to recover and bond with my daughter, and my husband stumbled into the room at 3 am, just a little drunk. I have never forgiven him for leaving me that night.

So was he there for the birth or not??

Sarah's note: The answer is in the story. :) Yes, he was.
