Model Heidi Klum, 35, took children Leni, 4, Henry, 2 ½, and Johan, 19 months, plus her mom, two nannies, and an unidentified man, out for a walk in the West Village on Wednesday, June 25th. Dad is singer Seal.

Wow, Five adults to stroll 3 kids!

The caption on this picture made me laugh - it makes it sound as if Heidi took all those people out for a walk!
My first reaction to the whole big group is wow, it takes a lot of people to take care of those kids! But then I had the nice thought when I saw the group picture that they all seemed happy and it may be nice to all spend time together like that.

Posted by: Valerie at Jun 26, 2008 6:54:57 PM

Wow, the 2 1/2yr old is tall, he looks bigger than his big sister LOL.

Posted by: jjmom at Jun 26, 2008 7:16:11 PM

Looks like Leni & Henry might be at some type of daycamp. With their matching shirts and book bags.

Posted by: Colleen at Jun 26, 2008 7:20:10 PM

Those kids are gorgeous!!! Henry looks cute carrying that handbag.

Posted by: N at Jun 26, 2008 7:21:43 PM

What I always think is odd is the kids are never interacting with one another. I see the same thing with the Jolie-Pitt kids. There's always somebody between the kids. One adult for each child, but the kids are never holding each other hands or playing together or skipping along like most kids do.

it's like an entourage of people when she goes out!! I love Heidi and think it's great but can't just she and her mom handle the kids or even one nanny?

on the other hand maybe her nannies have become more like family and they all enjoy each others companies. I'm not saying that can't be possible but I rarely ever see her venture out with any of the kids. If Angelina can do it with 4 she can surely try with atleast the 3 :)

Posted by: J.M. at Jun 26, 2008 8:06:09 PM

Does Heidi's mom live with/near them? It seems like she's always in the pictures of Heidi and Seal and their kids.

Posted by: Roise at Jun 26, 2008 8:10:35 PM

Henry must be the cutest baby boy ever. He is just adorable. He looks like my bro looked when he was little (minus the hair and skin color) My bro grew in a very handsome man (at least on the outside !!) Too bad I don't speak German I would apply for Heidi's nanny :)

Posted by: Nikka at Jun 26, 2008 8:13:34 PM

I love the red sneakers Henry has on and the red shoes Leni is wearing. They're all so adorable. :D

Posted by: jasmine at Jun 26, 2008 8:14:16 PM

i have 4 kids and i would LOVE to have a few nannies. i mean if i could afford it, i totally would have one for each of them and my mom with me too. :) hello, sanity. and, yes, i love my kids more than life itself, but a trip to the pool (like today) can be a nightmare. one is crying because i don't care enough about his stubbed toe, one overestimates her swimming ability, another is begging me to go in, and the baby is screaming. ask me on another day and i might feel differently, but today i want some nannies and my momma!

Posted by: melanie at Jun 26, 2008 8:31:45 PM

JM, what was up with that comment? There are pictures ALL THE TIME where it's just Heidi and the kids. Plus, going out with 3 kids under the age of 5 is a tough thing! When we see Angie out by herself, she never has all 4 by herself.

Seriously. Why do we judge these celebrities by such high standards! Like Melanie said, a lot of people with children (I don't have any) would LOVE a nanny.

Posted by: Stephany at Jun 26, 2008 9:04:07 PM

Nis, there are photos from just a few days ago where Henry and Leni are running while holding hands.

I also think the nannies are a bit much, but in this case I think it was just an outing with everyone that wanted to come.

Posted by: Sarita at Jun 26, 2008 9:11:06 PM

angelina has taken all 4 kids out by her self a couple times.

i always wondered why heidi always takes her kids out with like 5 other people but in the 2nd pic they all look happy i never thought about it but maybe they just like spending time together

Posted by: allie at Jun 26, 2008 9:25:29 PM

The more the merrier, I always say. I always loved it when aunts, babysitters, in-laws tagged along on a jaunt. The memories that are created are really special. And because you have the help, you can be more relaxed.

Many kids do "parallel play" at this age. Later they graduate up to individual play. I used to setup play dates for my 2 year old, and if there was another two year old, they rarely interacted. But, they had fun.

So, there's nothing untoward about the lack of interaction between the young children at this age.

Anyway, good for Heidi for being so hands-on.

Posted by: BeckyPooBear at Jun 26, 2008 9:25:37 PM

I wish i could afford 2 nannies, too. It's not easy handling 3 kids under the age of 6 by myself when I'm out with them w/o my husband. I need nannies for my sanity as well as for my kids' safety. I wonder why we don't see Seal out and about as much as we do Heidi with her children.

Posted by: giada at Jun 26, 2008 9:53:53 PM

I think it is smart to have plenty of 'hands' helping...just imagine the crowds that gather around...I believe it is more of a 'safety' issue...

Posted by: brooklyn at Jun 26, 2008 10:01:06 PM

Well when you really think about it, Heidi might be considering the safety of her kids. These are celebrity babies and there are some really crazy people out there. Should someone (God forbid) try something, like grabbing one of them, I bet Heidi prefers to have TOO many people around than not enough. In this case overkill is better. But I'll admit I'm just jealous she can afford to have all that help, so I'm not going to knock her ;)

Posted by: Gianna at Jun 26, 2008 10:06:33 PM

Heidi has an adorable family.

On to the comment about her 'Entourage of nannies' First and foremost, You don't know for sure they're all nannies. One is her mother and you can't see the face of the two behind her. For all you know it could be family. Maybe the one pushing the baby is a nanny but you can't say that for the rest. Maybe they're just enjoying quality time. There is no need to over analyze it and compare her to other celebrities and what they do with their children. To each is their own.

Posted by: CelebLove at Jun 26, 2008 10:12:54 PM

Does Heidi have a tattoo on her right forearm?? You can see something in the first picture... If she does I had no idea!

Those kiddos sure are cute!

Posted by: Crystal V at Jun 26, 2008 10:27:30 PM

Nis said "What I always think is odd is the kids are never interacting with one another. I see the same thing with the Jolie-Pitt kids. There's always somebody between the kids."

I think this is really a product of the circumstances we see them in. Paparazzi photographs represent a biased portion of their daily lives because it's always going to be the most high-pressure, disorganized situation moving within a crowd or pack of people. So the children are necessarily protected with plenty of adults. If you see genuine candid pictures, though, you can see the children interacting quite happily (the Jolie-Pitt kids in the park last year, or playing together in the yard of their house).

Posted by: cora at Jun 26, 2008 10:34:12 PM

One thought I didn't see above, I was a nanny for 5 yrs and once in a while I would take the kids to meet Mom for a lunch date, of course they all asked me to stay.... might have been something similar here. ALSO, on a side note, I seen mentioned above that its too hard to take 3 kids under 5 out by yourself, after nannying- I had a newborn, a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old and went out quite often by myself with them! One of my children is special needs too! I handled it all just fine with no one else to help me, its called parenthood! ;-) I was a nanny but don't have one now with my own three and carry on quite well thank you!

Posted by: Snow at Jun 26, 2008 11:11:01 PM

Leni is the cutest thing! She looks like such a happy kid and seems a loads of fun :)

Posted by: Manda at Jun 26, 2008 11:21:59 PM

Nothing wrong with nannies, but she always goes out with at least 2 nannies plus herself, and her mom, and sometimes seal, it's like it's only 3 kids, not 8 lol. Henry looks just like seal, and leni looks like flavio but like henry too. None of the kids look like heidi.

Posted by: brooke at Jun 27, 2008 12:07:09 AM

Heidi usually has at least one nanny - or her mom - with her whenever she takes the kids out. I remember CBB saying that they tend to crop other people out of pics, so that's why you see the nannies in some pics but not all.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it though. She can afford them, so why not.

Posted by: Nicole at Jun 27, 2008 12:09:22 AM

I think it's important to remember that we are only seeing a snapshot in time. We can't assume that the kids don't interact. I can't imagine having three kids under six. More power to them.

Posted by: Kdgriffin at Jun 27, 2008 12:28:42 AM

wow! i thought that was Gwyneth Paltrow at first!
omg Leni is a doll!!!

Posted by: jordyn at Jun 27, 2008 12:50:13 AM

Points well taken.

I don't see them all the time and have no idea what the kids do when not in the spotlight and yes, I suppose given that the kids are constantly stalked (poor adorable Violet trying to feed the ducks) I would probably be extra cautious about having an adult holding each child's hand rather than the three of them prancing around not paying attention.

I can't imagine what it's like to be a celeb these days. V. scary.

Posted by: Nis at Jun 27, 2008 1:10:30 AM

Points well taken, Corey, Sarita and BeckyPooBear.

I guess it makes sense to be more concerned in public about the kids being protected than whether they are skipping together. And maybe at home they do all play. They probably do. That makes sense.

Thanks.

I read on another site that her tattoo is new and it says her husband, Seal's name. It took me a while to make it out, but if you look closely at it sideways, you can tell that the cursive writing spells out Seal. I think it looks pretty cool...

Posted by: syd at Jun 27, 2008 1:24:52 AM

how do we really know that Angie has taken her 4 kids out by herself. There's ALWAYS guards around just not photographed. She always has pertection. They may not be helping her with the kids but they are around just incase.

Regarding all the people Heidi is with...maybe she just wanted everyone to go? Maybe they just all enjoy eachothers company? I find it so odd how people critisize for things that are so obviously good for the children...they are sooooooo happy all the time. Always smiling and such.

So what does it matter that there are 4-5 people with them on a walk?

Posted by: ERICKA at Jun 27, 2008 1:57:21 AM

Leni is like a mini Dakota Fanning, soooooooo much like her it's crazy.

I think mummy Heidi is sensible for having that many people around her babies. If a fan did get a little overzealous with her, or even someone with more sinister motives, how is she supposed to handle those three on her own? Exactly, she can't. I can't believe anyone would knock her or judge her for having that kind of backup. It's wonderful for the kids to have so many people to walk with them, but furthermore, to me it seems obvious that Heidi quite rightly feels safer when the kids have at least one adult each to watch over them. I love these kids, they're beautiful.

Posted by: phoebe at Jun 27, 2008 2:59:26 AM

As many hear I don't understand why her mum and Heidi aren't able to take care of the kids by themselves ... all those nannies??!! Strange! The unidentified man might be a bodyguard (which I would understand!)! The kids are cute though, especially the youngest!

Posted by: Nadine at Jun 27, 2008 4:27:37 AM

Cute, Leni and Henry are wearing the same shirts. Does anyone know any information on them?

Posted by: Kait at Jun 27, 2008 4:45:59 AM

I don't think anyone can doubt that Heidi and Seal - like most all parents - are simply amazing and deserve many kudos.

I saw a pic on another site very recently where Henry was demonstrating that he is, indeed, in the midst of 'the terrible twos'. It was handled quite nicely, and may indicate why he is holding his Mom's hand - ie: Heidi is making sure that she is there for him because he needs a little extra mothering from her these days. :)

ERICKA wrote:

I agree completely. Some of the comments here really make me wonder... Don't people in the US ever go on a walk with the whole family/ a group of friends? I'm German and my family does that a lot. I'm sure that, if my family had had nannies, we would have asked them along, too.

Posted by: AnnaB at Jun 27, 2008 7:01:04 AM

I think if I were Heidi I would probably want at least one person with me also. Given she probably has about 10 paparazzi following her at all times, it might almost be necessary when having all the kids with her.

Posted by: Julie at Jun 27, 2008 8:46:33 AM

CBB, sometime will you do a post with uncropped pictures so we can see the hoards of photographers within inches of the children while they walk. I think it would be interesting to see what the celebrities are actually faced with when they walk down the street.

My guess is Heidi would love nothing more than to be out with her children and no other adults. But she is never anonymous when she leaves the house. I'd have my kids holding two hands as well if there were a bunch of strangers calling their name while we walked.

Posted by: zaoli at Jun 27, 2008 9:02:56 AM

Seal and Heidi's children are gorgeous! Her boys melt my heart with that adorable curly hair. Maybe because my son has curly hair like the boys that I have a soft spot for them...but how beautiful are those boys??!?!

I think Henry is wearing Armani sneakers

celeb love - first and foremost I said Entourage of PEOPLE not Nannies!! And I can only go by what the post says so I know who is with her, "two nannies, her mother and some unidentified man". I didn't say it's wrong to have nannies. I could careless if she had a nanny for each child and one for her and Seal!! I also stated maybe her nannies have become more like family (which most do) and they all enjoy each others company and that's why they're all out together! Maybe people should finish reading post.

You can watch videos of photographers taking pics and most of the time they are NOT in the faces of the kids. The only time I see true choas is with the Jolie Pitt children or with Tom and Suri Cruise. Then I'd have to have other reinforcements with me for safety reasons. But how often do you see any of them with their "entourage" of people walking with them?? Like I said she can do as she wishes she's not hurting anyone but more then often she's never out alone with the kids.

Posted by: J.M. at Jun 27, 2008 11:00:32 AM

Really, who cares how many ppl go with her and her kids for a walk. She's bombarded by the paps taking pics of her kids which is dangerous and scary, so it's better for their safety. Also I imagine that it's hard taking that many kids out so young. I'd rather see that, then 1 person w/ a bunch of kids letting them run wild. The thing to keep in mind is that Heidi seems to be a very hands on mom and her kids seem happy, so really, what does it matter???

Posted by: Taylor at Jun 27, 2008 11:18:32 AM

It is possible that she has the entourage for her own sanity. Talking to adults is really nice when you spend your days with kids all day.

Also, she and her mum are really close. And you can't just send the nanny home if you told her she's going to work that day. and she's a celebrity being stalked by photographers. i would want a city of people protecting my kids if there were hoards of strange people around.

i love that little Henry. it's so cute how he's carrying a purse and the other day he was pushing a doll buggy.

Posted by: Abbey at Jun 27, 2008 11:19:36 AM

Henry's sneakers don't look like the Armani ones. The soles are all different and the strap has three stripes. I'm pretty certain they're Adidas.

Posted by: AnnaB at Jun 27, 2008 11:20:00 AM

Still think, Leni looks like her gran *smiles*

My, Henry is so tall,... I hope the poor boy won't experience as much trouble because of his height as my oldest did when he entered playgroup (German: Kindergarten) ... some boys thought he was 5 y/o because of how tall he was and when he reacted normally for a 2 3/4 y/o child being in a new environment and not like a 5 y/o he got beaten up...

Posted by: kiki at Jun 27, 2008 11:52:59 AM

on nannies... honestly, Heidi is working a lot and I bet she'll then have to leave her children in the care of her nannies.

Honestly, it is much better for a child to be with the persons, be they family or hired, that will take care of them on a regular, day to day basis out on everyday business, because that will cause much less heartache when Mom has to leave for work.

I think it is very responsible of Heidi to be out and about with the nannies .

Posted by: kiki at Jun 27, 2008 12:00:21 PM

I guess I just don't see the point in comparing what one celeb does with their kids to what another celeb does with theirs. The situations and dynamics of each household are different so the comparisons make little sense to me. Each group of parents is doing what works for them so what does it matter in the long run? I have walked around NYC with my oldest (now four) and my nanny on several occasions just the three of us, however, from the sounds of some of the postings here people would see us and be like, "Why does she need a nanny with just one child?" First and foremost it's no one's business, but aside from that my nanny and I have become close friends in the four years that we have been together so she and I love walking around the city together to grab coffee, go to the park, or shop, regardless of how many members of the brood we have with us.

Still as far as comparisons go, I saw Angelina and Brad in NO with the kids while my husband was on business last year. There was definitely a nanny with them who was carrying a diaper bag (presumably for Shiloh) and two security guards who were walking at a brief distance behind them.

Posted by: lizzielui at Jun 27, 2008 12:45:35 PM

JM, With all do respect I misinterpreted your post.

As for your comment "You can watch videos of photographers taking pics and most of the time they are NOT in the faces of the kids" Many of the photographers go overboard. These poor children can barely go out with their parents without having lights shined in their face. Flash after flash. They are children and trying to just be like a normal kid and go out. But they aren't able to. Yes, they are a child of a celebrity but the photographers need to respect that they are children. I have seen many videos where photographers were up in there faces. Lately, I haven't seen many.

Ericka, I agree with you.

We all need to remember that Pictures do get cropped and you can judge her on pictures or what not. You don't know what goes on inside home life.

Posted by: CelebLove at Jun 27, 2008 1:00:36 PM

I guess it never occurred to most people that Heidi, her mother, children, and nannies probably like to be with each other. I see a happy family out and about together. Why can't everyone come out and have some fun?

Posted by: Jay at Jun 27, 2008 1:35:04 PM

Did Heidi, get a tat(on her inner arm)? She looks quite punk, here. Hmm? Cute family!

Posted by: bethany at Jun 27, 2008 2:01:54 PM

Brooke, I don't have kids but when I go out I often go with 2 or 3 friends. I don't have 8 kids I'd need them for but they are my friends. You can go out with people if you have 0, 3 or 8 kids, it doesn't mean that if you only have 3 you cannot have another company

Posted by: Nikka at Jun 27, 2008 3:17:54 PM

Entourage or not, I'm still on the tattoo, lol. I can not for the life of me make out "Seal".

Posted by: plannbb at Jun 27, 2008 5:04:34 PM

Wow. You are all so right. 5 adults for 3 children!! That's ridiculous! I know, I know..no one meant anything by it. You just really felt the need to share it. Is it maybe just possible that public figures live a different life than us?? That perhaps a nanny is needed because they're being pulled in a million different directions and sometimes you just need an extra hand. And a security guard! Well that's just crazy...because there aren't thousands of inappropriate people who are trying to make themselves a part of her life. It's nice to think we're all in the same boat..but we're not. We all know just as much about her life as she does ours, and I doubt she made note that my daughter looks more like my husband than me today.

Posted by: Maggie at Jun 28, 2008 1:37:11 AM

on the tatoo, it has Seals name in whirly letters and 3 stars that stand for their children

here you have a better view on the tatoo

Posted by: kiki at Jun 28, 2008 8:00:46 AM

I guess Heidi feels safer with a lot of adults around, what with all the paparazzi following them? I agree it does seem a little extreme, but it's her choice.

I was watching Jordan and Peter Andre's programme the other day and they had their three kids in Disneyland (the USA one) accompanied by FIFTEEN employees! And unlike Heidi's family, no one knew who they were so it's not as if they were getting hounded or anything.

I take my three out alone all the time; I don't have much choice! But if I was famous I'd probably pay someone to keep an eye an them in public, it makes sense.

Posted by: Ruthella at Jun 28, 2008 1:19:32 PM

Wow!! You people sure are nitpicking. So she took the kids out with 3 or 4 nannies, if the adults in that picture are all nannies. Given that Heidi and Seal are a high profile couple with three small children who are prone to run out in the street at any moment or be abducted by some deranged fan, I think it makes sence to travel in a group. If they can afford it, why not.

As for the nanny who proudly boasted that she walked the streets with 3 small children, including one child that was disabled, I hope you were paid well. I would be mighty nervous handeling that many kids in the busy city were I live. Just because you were successful at handeling all those kids, does not mean that it is the best alternative for Heidi and Seal. I just think some people on this board are jealous of this high-profile couple.

Posted by: moe at Jun 28, 2008 4:46:35 PM

is that a real tattoo on heidi's arm?

Posted by: amanda at Jun 28, 2008 8:01:32 PM

It's not ridiculous. Those of you judging are ridiculous. My goodness - let her raise her kids as she sees fit. What is the problem with grandma, nannies, uncles, moms going for a walk together? Sheesh.

I do see Seal on her arm. The S runs into the E and so on, with squiggles after the L.

Posted by: ZBella at Jun 29, 2008 4:00:47 PM

I agree with Moe. What celebrity would not desire support when taking out more than one kid. They are rountinely stalked by paparazi. I see her as a loving parent taking nothing for granted. she is doing what SHE feels best for HER family.
