Paris Bennett set to welcome her own princess

Paris Bennett, who placed fifth in season 5 of American Idol, is expecting her first child -- a daughter to be named Egypt -- in October, confirmed her mother Jamecia Bennett.  There is no information released about the father, other than "he chooses not to be in the public eye" stated Jamecia.  The proud grandmother couldn't hide her excitement either when declaring that the baby "makes five generations" for her family. A baby shower is being planned for August.

The 19-year-old expectant mom posed for the cameras while backstage at the Songs of Soul and Inspiration Concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of AARP on Saturday, June 21st at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

This surprises me for some reason. Congrats to Paris and her boyfriend, and I hope their little bundle of joy will be healthy and happy.

She looks beautiful in that pic, btw.

It's great to see she has so much family support, which I think is so needed for young moms these days. I absolutely love her outfit, she always dresses so classic-looking!

Posted by: Emaline at Jun 28, 2008 5:54:24 PM

More babies having babies - i guess being a young mother is back. Congratulations Paris!

Posted by: misha at Jun 28, 2008 6:08:46 PM

That is good to see her mom so excited, alot of mom's wouldn't be considering her age.

Posted by: kayde's mommy at Jun 28, 2008 6:40:16 PM

I am surprised by this, I thought she was super religious and all that. But congrats to her and her boyfriend. I am sure little Egypt will be a cutie just like her Momma.

Congrats!! Love to see happy families!

What is the "correct" age to have a baby? Seems like people think everyone is either too young or too old lately? Just curious as to what age makes people happy?

Posted by: brannon at Jun 28, 2008 8:59:06 PM

I am proud of her and her accomplishments. She is from an extremely supportive family so there should be no suprise that they are showing their support for her decision. More families should! As for her age she's 20 in like 2 months! She's a beautiful woman that made a choice (which was hers to make) and is holding her head high!

Posted by: Cee at Jun 28, 2008 9:14:56 PM

Congrats!! I loved Paris on AI and wish she could have won :) Her voice is amazing ... maybe little Egypt will have her mom's voice. :)

Posted by: Crystal V at Jun 28, 2008 9:17:23 PM

Misha, she's not a baby anymore. She is already 19. Although she will always be her mom's baby, to the rest of us she is an adult and independent woman

Posted by: Molly at Jun 28, 2008 10:10:50 PM

Huge congrats to Paris! She was so poised and talented on AI. I can totally see her becoming a mom!

Posted by: Sasha at Jun 28, 2008 11:47:06 PM

I wonder if all her kid's will have a destination name!!!!?? Well, I like her choice and I hope the baby is born happy and healthy!

Posted by: tiffanyyy at Jun 29, 2008 12:32:32 AM

Misha- I am just a few years older than Paris, and I certainly don't consider myself a baby!

Posted by: CelebBabyLover at Jun 29, 2008 12:51:56 AM

Well Brannon, biologically 19 is the perfect age to have a baby. Intellectually, emotionally, financially, career potential - not so sure!

Posted by: Dazzlar at Jun 29, 2008 9:51:12 AM

According to my hubby who works in the music business this is a family tradition for them having babies so young. Her mother was signed to my husbands label and then became pregnant with Paris. Her grandmother who is also a singer was pregnant with Paris' mother at a young age too.

So this is just how their family rolls.

Do I agree with teens having babies maybe not but to each their own.

Paris will be fine. She's got a great support system behind her.

Posted by: a- at Jun 29, 2008 10:55:36 AM

Last I checked at 19 most are graduated from High School and Living on their own and supporting them selfs. I'm so tired of this "babies having babies" crap. It's so judgmental and rude. What IS a good age to have children...30...40...50?!?!
If she can support herself and her child then thats ALL that matters.

PERIOD.

Posted by: Carrie at Jun 29, 2008 8:05:43 PM

Haha, I'm 20 years old and I COMPLETELY AGREE with Misha! I don't know but I can't even imagine being mentally prepared for a child yet. I need to get through college first!

I know, I know. Some people my age are ready. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's my honest opinion.

She seems very mature so she's probably more prepared for have a baby than I am. She does have the means and seems like a very grounded individual.

Congrats

Posted by: Stephany at Jun 29, 2008 9:15:02 PM

Well, I'm 20 and I DO have a child. I feel like I'm MUCH better off than some older mothers. I can't stand the people that shake their heads at younger mothers in pity. If you are physically ready to dedicate your body to being pregnant and can afford to give your child the love and undivided attention they require then age is nothing but a number...

I'm really disappointed at how judgmental this websites comments have become. It used to be about "oh her shoes are cute... or I like her diaper bag...etc." Now it's all "she's too old to have a baby...or she's too young...I would never do that to my kids...blah...blah...blah..."

It's just ignorant and disrespectful to judge any of the subjects of this site OR it's readers based on a 4 word sentence or a newspaper clipping. We know NOTHING of these peoples life's and how they chose to live them. We see pictures and a paragraph so lay off of it already.

Posted by: Carrie at Jun 29, 2008 10:00:25 PM

So at 18 you're mature enough to die for your country, but not have a child? She is a 19 year old WOMAN. Enough already.

Congratulations to Paris and Grandma!

Posted by: older not always better at Jun 29, 2008 11:13:31 PM

Congratulations to Paris!! She was one of my favorites on AI season 5.

Posted by: Namesake Treasures Personalized Gifts at Jun 30, 2008 12:18:23 AM

I wish her the best, very good that it seems like her family will be so supportive.

Still, Im a little surprised because I thought with that strong gospel tradition she'd be married first. (Im just assuming shes not because they didnt mention it).

Posted by: Monique at Jun 30, 2008 12:53:10 AM

Well said Carrie! I have noticed how judgmental people here have been as of late..."Why does she always have nannies and bodyguards with her?" or "Why is that baby not buckled into the stroller properly? She should know better!" Come on, this site is for entertainment purposes not to plan your lives by, let's take a breathe and not take these pics so SERIOUSLY!!

Posted by: Cee at Jun 30, 2008 2:58:15 AM

Wow "older not always better", I love it! Just love the reasoning. Cut through the BS and say it out; you're old enough at 18 to die for your country but not to have a child. I agree with you all day long. I had my daughter at a young age and can't imagine trying to be a mother any later in life than I was. That's just what was right for me.
Carrie; you also hit the nail on the head. The comments on this site used to be a lot less judgmental and now it's moving away from being a pleasure to visit to a gamble regarding who's going to be fighting about what topic today. Sad.

Posted by: Morgan at Jun 30, 2008 9:12:57 AM

I would prefer if she didn't get pregnant so early but whateva can't do nothing about it now!!

Posted by: Jess at Jun 30, 2008 11:29:22 AM

You would prefer, why?
Do you know her personally?
Is her pregnancy going to affect you in any way, shape or form?

I'm considering giving up on this site.
It's turning into TMZ or Perezhilton with all the riduclous comments.

Posted by: carrie at Jun 30, 2008 2:51:22 PM

Carrie:
I agree with Jess. I would prefer she wasnt pregnant either. It goes against the wholesome relgious image Paris advocated.

Posted by: i think at Jun 30, 2008 3:03:37 PM

I don't think it really has anything to do with her being pregnant so early. It has to do with her not being married. If you're going to talk the talk then you had better walk the walk (or at least try to) She's a Christian so you'd think she'd want to wait until she was married to have babies since that's what the Bible teaches. But I know everyone can make mistakes. Not that the baby is a mistake... children are a blessing. Her sin of sex before marriage was the mistake. Call me an old prude. However, I'm 27... not so old. So do I mind that she's pregnant at only age 19? Nope. What bothers me is that she's not married. Should she rush and get married now that she's pregnant? No way. I don't agree with that either. Was her grandmother and mother married when they had their firsts? Someone on here said they all had their first borns when they are really young.

This all being said... I know everyone is different and has different beliefs and that's fine. These are just mine.

Posted by: Raebees at Jun 30, 2008 3:47:27 PM

Raebees, relax hunh. Paris is a secular artist, it's not like she was CeCe Winans or something......her choice!!!!

Posted by: Cee at Jun 30, 2008 8:17:28 PM

I have read all of the comments and I cant do nothing but shake my head. I dont remember seeing this much negativity towards Jamie Lynn, who is now engaged, just like Paris. Yes, she has a beautiful ring on her finger! Jess you made the comment, "I would prefer if she didn't get pregnant so early but whateva can't do nothing about it now!!", all I have to say about that is..it is none of your business. Dont judge her just because she is 19 and a christian. The bible also stated that you should only have one wife or one husband, but my pastor has been married twice and going through another divorce. She has to answer to the Lord for her sins/mistakes or whatever you consider it, NOT YOU! So let her be! She is going to be a beautiful mother!!

Posted by: Monique at Jul 1, 2008 1:21:55 PM

Ummm has anyone seen the movie " THE FOG"?

Some of you are sounding like that outspoken (slightly crazy) religious lady!! LOL.

Calm down, what matters is YOUR Life and how you live it. Paris is a grown adult who can make her own choices.

Geeezzzz.

Posted by: iluvallbabies at Jul 2, 2008 3:40:48 AM

There is no perfect age to have a baby God gave her the abiltiy and she is a mature 19, she also has lots of family support she and egypt are set for a happy life. That's all that matters. Congrats Paris...

Posted by: Winter at Jul 3, 2008 9:23:57 PM

I am surprised, but I didn't realize Paris is already 19. That's old enough to be a good mom. Congratulations to her and her family.
