Christina Aguilera: Max "breathes new life into me"
Sitting down for an interview with Glamour at 10 p.m. at night, songstress Christina Aguilera's day as a mother had slowed down and her demanding life as an entertainer began. After welcoming her first child, son Max Liron, with her husband Jordan Bratman back in January, the 27-year-old's life only seems to have gotten busier and more fulfilling with the addition of a new baby, a new perfume set to launch this fall -- fittingly called Inspire -- a deal in promoting a line of jewelry with designer Stephen Webster, and the upcoming release of her album later this year.
Despite juggling a full plate, Christina was determined to get back into pre-baby shape, even though she "hate[s] working out," and admits that at times she "can get very whiny, saying things like, 'I can't do it!" and requiring herself to "mentally push through." While working out can sometimes be a struggle, Christina -- who prefers "to be comforted [throughout my workout]" -- was relieved when all of her hard work began to pay off and she finally saw "my stomach get flatter and tighter and more muscle definition."
Getting back her body was a priority, but there is no complaints from Christina when it comes to her newly acquired assets, including her "booty and the boobs!" Like many women, the singer -- who says she gained a total of 40 pounds during her pregnancy -- explained that the majority of the baby weight headed right to her stomach, while her "hips also changed significantly." When it came to her shoe size however, Christina says "thank God" her feet -- which went from a size 5 to a size 7 during the 9-month span -- have quickly gone back to normal as she "would have been so depressed if I had to get rid of my shoe collection!"

Looking forward to the release of her album, the new mother gushes about her son, saying "my little boy breathes new life into me," thus granting her solid musical inspiration. However, music isn't the only area in which 5 ½-month-old Max has sparked some passion into his mom; Christina has also become an advocate for domestic violence awareness. As a person with or without children, "of course you have compassion for children," but with the new title of 'mom,' Christina is the first to admit that "when you have your own, you feel it on a much deeper level." Now, as a new parent -- who grew up as a victim of domestic violence herself -- and with a desire to help young children out of the situation, she has been involved with "more charity work; to help children find safe homes."
Aware that along with her high-profile job comes the infamous paparazzi, Christina -- who says "a lot of people go out of their way [to be photographed]; I make a conscious effort to keep me and my family out of the limelight" -- has certainly managed to avoid a lot of press following the birth of Max and even has some photographers telling Jordan that "I've been trying to get a picture of you for months -- you never leave the house!" So what does the songstress do all day?
[During the day] I just hang out on my grounds, taking [Max] for walks in the stroller in the backyard where we won't be seen.
But don't let her days spent with her son fool you into thinking Christina -- who is open about wanting more kids -- spends no time with her husband, Jordan! After long days with Max, Christina is candid about the fact that "I'll go out at night after spending time with my son."
Focusing her days on her son has left little time for Christina to continuously keep up her perfectly-manicured look, but it's not something she's too worried about! Jokingly saying, "Obviously I didn't do anything today -- you're not allowed to look at my nails," she also admits that while the needs of a young baby fill the hours quickly, she is "careful to make time for myself" and "rather than change who I am for Max, I bring the life lessons I've learned to the table."
A new baby can often bring stress and tension to a family, but in Christina and Jordan's case "it's brought us closer together," creating a bond "together for life." The two -- who are "great teammates" -- "make sure to have their Mommy and Daddy nights out," and although they have received past scrutiny for these date nights, Christina is reassuring saying that "our child comes first, obviously, but there are certain things you can do: Once we know he's in good hands, we go out late at night and have a few drinks." A few drinks can lead into romantic couple-nights while little Max sleeps, as Christina teasingly says that later they'll "come home, dim the lights and do our thing -- and I'm not going into any more details than that!"
