Jessica Alba planning her parenting style

Since giving birth to her daughter Honor Marie Warren last month, Jessica Alba has shifted her focus from movie star to mom. The 27-year-old actress spoke to Britain's Sunday Express' S Magazine about her plans for raising 4-week-old Honor, saying "kids' personalities have so much to do with the parents and their mentality."

If you're very paranoid and uptight and won't let your child cross the street, they are going to take on that anxiety. If you're a little more laid-back and make your kids responsible for their actions, you'll probably have an easier time with them. I guess I'll find out.

Jessica is also interested in learning more about the alleged links between vaccinations and disorders like autism. As a child, she dealt with pneumonia, a burst appendix, a cyst on her tonsils, asthma and twice, a collapsed lung, so has always been aware of the physical maladies affecting children.

I've come to think that perhaps I was a product of my environment or the vaccines or something my mother took when she was pregnant. I've been reading a lot about kids and infections.

Alba is married to producer Cash Warren, 29.

"kids' personalities have so much to do with the parents and their mentality."
As a mom of a 11, 9, and 8 year old I tend to respectfully disagree. I understand if you are a fearful or anxious parent some of that may rub off. I think a great deal of personality is nature with of course some nurture thrown in. My oldest has been analytical since he was little, my middle (daughter) has been fearless, independent and artistic, my youngest son has always been fearful of change. Same parenting style, different children. Regarding the vaccines, it's great to be educated but study both sides of the issue. Sometimes illnesses, etc just happen. I wish them the best with their little girl.

Autism is the result of fragile X syndrom, a genetic disorder, almost always stemming from the mom, and affecting mostly boys.

Anna- Not always. I have an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), but I do not have Fragile X syndrome (and believe me, I know that for a fact. When I was a toddler, I was put through just about every genetic test in the book! It's a long story!). I do, however, think Autism and ASDs are genetic. In my case, my dad also has several mild ASD symptoms. Therefore, I'm guessing I got it from him.

Similarly, I have a cousin with Fragile X, and, as far as I know, he doesn't have Autism. In otherwords, Autism and Fragile X CAN go hand-in-hand, but not always! :)
